Researching Radio / Begleitforschung (Petra Pfisterer, Judith Purkarthofer, Michael Gams)
From Civilmedia
The larger proportion of time will be used for discussion: What are your expectations for further radio research? How can effects of free radio be measured? What kind of methodology is adequate? Who is adequately positioned for which kind of research?
As a basis, we would like to propose an overview of recent community radio research: Research on community radio has been growing over the last few years and has gained significant complexity. In order to gain some clarity for the ongoing debates about research for/with/about community radio stations, their volunteers and/or their sponsors we would like to structure the existing studies concerning their subjects, methodological approaches and research ethical positions. The author of a recent study on Radiofabrik and Okto TV, Michael Gams, will shortly introduce his work. Also our own recent study on the effects of Austrian Free Radio regarding media pluralism, open access and social cohesion (RTR 2008; http://www.communitymedia.eu/) will figure as one example among many others. casino en ligne
