Cultural diversity in cyberspace: through cultural mediation (Léonie Marin)

After clarifying these three notions (cultural diversity, cyberspace and cultural mediation), which will take up a significant portion of the presentation, I will illustrate them in pragmatic way, taking into account the international context and exploring the way they play out in cyberspace. Afterward, I try to show how information and communication technology (ICT) tries to preserve and reflect cultural diversity and dynamic change, even in the context of globalization and monoculture with the assistance of human and cultural mediation. Afterwards, I will explain the importance of the digital collective with “successful” projects in cyberspace, by taking into account the important role of the alternative media and the democratization of cultural diversity.
